Here’s where you can catch a movie in the park this summer, for free. The summer in New York City gives lots of chances for great free activities; one of the best is going out to an outdoor screening, right under the stars or sun. This is a fun activity where you can participate just by hanging out and enjoying the company of your friend, and in the meanwhile see a movie and enjoy the outdoors. Sounds like fun!

Summer Film Festival at Bryant Park
Every Monday, starting June 17 2014, you can enjoy a flick at the lawn of Bryant Park. All time classical treats includes: Tootsie (June 17) Invasion of the Body Snatchers (June 24) Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (July 8) A Foreign Affair (July 29), and more. The location opens at 5pm and the screenings starts with sundown. Grab a mat and catch a good spot, and enjoy a special evening out.
Another great al fresco film festival that will appeal to the 90’s nostalgia-lovers amongst you. Starting July 10, and featuring films like: Can’t Hardly Wait, The Craft (July 24), Speed (Aug 7), The Goonies, (July 31) and more. You can cast your vote at the fan favorite to be screened on August 14, The Big Lebowski, anyone? The event opens at 6pm with live music, and food will be on sale at the venue.
Central Park Conservancy Film Festival
For the 12th year, this 5 day film fest features films that were shot right here in New York City. Such as: Big (August 18) The Royal Tenenbaums (August 19), The Way We Were (August 20) and more. The festival is located just north of Sheep Meadow, and entry is at Fifth Ave and 72nd St.
