  1. King Cole Bar — Grand Hotel

This is the cocktail bar where movie stars and fashion aficionados descend to join the weekend throng. The bar is known for its sumptuous décor and some great cocktails. While the bar is famous for many drinks one in particular is a must-have. The Bloody Mary was created by Fernand Petiot who was the bar’s head bartender back in 1934. And while you can order a Bloody Mary in just about every bar in New York City, none makes it better than its original birthplace. Although you would have to use the drink’s original name, which is ‘Red Snapper.’

  1. Attaboy

If you’re looking for a unique experience along with tasting a great cocktail then Attaboy, or “AB” as the board says discreetly, is the place to visit. Once you find the old battered door, knock on it gently and a man will greet you and take your phone number before parting ways by uttering the words “half an hour.” Customers are permitted to enter only when the man calls them back. While that might seem mysterious to some, it’s not the end of it. Enter the narrow candlelit space that houses a steel and wood bar and shelves of old books. Once a Chinese owned tailor’s shop, this mysterious bar still stays true to its roots by tailoring each drink according to their customers.

Here, you will have to tell the bartender what mood you’re in, your likes and dislikes and even any suggestions you may have. Then relax and watch the bartender pour a glorious blend of a liquid rainbow into a glass for you.
